Scrapbooking Ideas

So, you want to try your hand at scrapbooking but don't have any ideas for subject matter?  Don't fret - we have tons on ideas to get you started on a hobby that absolutely anyone can do whether or not they have any experience doing crafts. Scrapbooking combines photos and memorabilia in one book.  You can still have photo albums but scrapbooking takes your album to a higher level. Scrapbooking allows you to add other memorabilia to your theme such as ticket stubs, a garter from a wedding or your favorite verse from a song.

You can get ideas just by thinking of all the day-to-day activities you participate in.  Here are some tried and true ideas for you to start with.  Do you participate in a sport?  You can do great scrapbooks with sporting themes.  Go into any scrapbooking shop and you will see various items that pertain to your favorite sport.  If you are in to hockey you can decorate your scrapbook with your team logo or colors. You can add ticket stubs from games you have attended, or quotes from team members.  What about doing a scrapbook for someone who is in to gardening?  You could have pictures of their own garden or their favorite flowers interspersed with seed packets and stickers of bugs and butterflies.  Of course, the perennial favorites for scrapbooks are for wedding, new babies, and travel.  How about a special book for your mom on Mother's Day?  You could do a book for someone who is retiring or moving to a new town.  We know of a teacher who was thrilled to receive a book done by the parents of her kindergarten children.  Each child contributed a page in the book filled with their own memories of the year.  With the huge variety of scrapbooking supplies available, each page was unique and expressed the individual style of the children.  This book will be treasured for years.

Here are a few more scrapbooking ideas for you to try.  Record a special anniversary or graduation, a christening or a job change.  Do you have someone who is in to family history in your family?  Bring their heritage alive with a book to go along with their family tree.  For the student studying away from home a memory book of the family would be a nice touch. The years that our children spend in school present several important milestones that should be preserved in a scrapbook - kindergarten, elementary, middle school and senior high. Make a scrapbook for each child.  Preserve their achievements for them now so that they can enjoy them themselves later.
